Simple Fillings & Restoration

Fillings/Restoration replaces the part of a tooth that has been lost due to decay or trauma to the teeth.

Tooth decay commonly affects people of all ages and occurs when bacteria present in plaque combines with refined sugar in our diets to produce acid. Overtime, the surface of the tooth becomes weakened leading to cavities.

While many types of filling materials are available each with their own advantages and disadvantages, Amalgam and composite (tooth colored) fillings, are the most widely used today.

Since the color from an Amalgam filling is not as aesthetically pleasing as that of a composite filling, it is more commonly used in the back teeth.

On the contrary, composite fillings can be closely matched to the color of the existing teeth and are more aesthetically suited for use in the front teeth or other more visible areas of the teeth.

As with most dental restorations, amalgam and composite fillings are not permanent and may need replacement in the future.  They are however very durable, and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
